Blockchain as a Service:Create an organization

A blockchain network is a consortium consisting of multiple organizations. Organizations are the participants of blockchain networks. Enterprises, government agencies, groups, and other entities can join the blockchain network as participants.

Alibaba Cloud BaaS supports two types of organizations:

  • Consortium operator: The consortium operator manages and operates the public infrastructure of the consortium.
  • Business participant: The company or enterprise involved in the consortium. Each enterprise can define one or more organizations.

You can create an organization in one of the following ways:

  • Quick mode: You only need to specify the required information, and Alibaba Cloud BaaS will automatically perform operations to create a complete blockchain network. These operations include creating a consortium, creating organizations, and inviting groups to join a consortium or a channel. For more information, see Quick start with blockchain.

  • Standard mode: Manually create an organization. The operations are as follows:

Create an organization.

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud BaaS console.

  2. On the Overview page, click Create Organization.

  3. Set the following parameters:

    Parameter Description
    Organization Name We recommend that you enter a business-related name that is easy to identify.
    Domain Name Enter the prefix of the consortium domain name.
    Region The region where your organization is located. We recommend that you select the region where your business application system is located.
    Specification Select Basic, Enterprise Edition, or Enterprise Security Edition.
    Node Quantity The number of peers in the organization.
    Description Enter the organization description.
  4. Click OK.
    It may take 15 to 40 minutes for the system to configure the resources. When the organization has been successfully created, the organization status changes to Running.

  5. In My Organizations, locate the target organization, and click the name of the organization.
